Biography

Ritish Ranjan Chakraborty, born on 2nd January 1950 in Nabadwip, West Bengal, is a visionary cultural personality, academician, journalist and the Founder Secretary of Surnandan Bharati and International-level cultural organization. At present he is the All India president of Surnandan Bharati, He is also the director of Baghajatin Jogoprova foundation. A post-graduate in Mathematics with a Ph.D. in Indigenous Art, he has carried out deep research in acoustics, tune, and aesthetics. After completing his studies from Saraswat Mandir, Nabadwip Vidyasagar College, Dinabandhu Andrews College, and Calcutta University, he served the nation as a Staff Officer in the Bank of India and later contributed as an examiner at Rabindra Bharati University. He is also Sahapratiritwik of Satsang Deoghar, Jharkhand. Mr. Chakraborty is also known for his prolific contributions to journalism, having worked as cultural editor for dailies like Satyajug and Rajpath, and as News Editor at MX5 Channel, where he also directed programs like Barnamala and Nandanik. He has edited journals such as Surnandan, Ra Patrika, Satwata Barta, and contributed to the ‘Dharma Karma’ page of Dainik Jugasankha. As the founder and key force behind Surnandan Bharati, he has nurtured a platform that spans across all Indian states and extends to international connections. Established in 1994 and registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, Surnandan Bharati is an ISO 9001:2015 certified All India Examination Board for Music, Dance, Yoga, Painting, Drama, Recitation, Beautician, Embroidery, Carnatic and Western Music. The institution has empowered thousands of students across India, particularly in Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Delhi, Odisha, Gujrat, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. The curriculum of Surnandan Bharati includes Hindustani Classical, Bhajan, Folk, Modern, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Western music, Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Rabindra Nritya, Folk and Western dances, and a wide array of instruments like Sitar, Sarod, Violin, Tabla and Keyboard. The organization also offers creative training in painting, doll-making, fabric art, and beautician courses. Inspired by the philosophy of Ustad Allauddin Khan and other maestros, the institution fosters a spirit of love, cultural integration, and aesthetic excellence. Surnandan Bharati is registered under 12AA, 80G, and FCRA, with a Darpan ID of WB/2012/0052994. Ritish is a member of the International Music and Dance Council affiliated with UNESCO, Paris. He is also the president-kolkata city public servant protection under human rights council of India. He is the Editor of registered at ISSN approved bengali journal RA patrika and english journal surnandan. Mr. Chakraborty has received national and international recognition, including the Rajiv Gandhi Saanskritik Samman, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Albert Einstein Honour Award, and has been featured in the Magic Book of Records, Syandan Patrika, The Statesman, and several cultural bulletins. As a poet, lyricist, composer, lecturer, and cultural mentor, he has published numerous articles, delivered scholarly lectures across India and authored several books that bridge the classical and the contemporary. His dedication to art, music and social awareness continues to uplift the nation’s cultural fabric with passion, knowledge and boundless creativity.
